Bioremediation Tapestry, Terreform ONE

Microneedle project image MN3

The bioremediation tapestry is a living, modular textile engineered to heal scorched earth. Designed for application in post-wildfire landscapes, the biomaterial system delivers bacteria, fungi, and nutrients directly to depleted soil. Through integrating material science with architectural design, the tapestry stabilizes terrain burned by forest fires and accelerates the restoration of ecosystems.

Materials: kelp, clay, soil, fungi, turmeric, spirulina.

PROCESS

Material Science & Formulation: My role was to conduct material literature review, material formulation, and rheological testing. I produced a mixture with load bearing properties to improve soil and ecosystem health.

Production & Scaling: My role was to design and build all biomaterial 3D printers, suitable to print composite materials with large particle size and variety. I built a large-scale 3D print farm and worked with a team to produce a 10-square-meter printed tile tapestry. The task demonstrates the ability to scale and maintain industrial-size production.
